Stroller Safety

As families get outdoors to make memories together, they should follow the latest guidance on safely using on-the-go gear. Let's make a day out and about so much more enjoyable for not only the little ones, but for mom and dad, too!

While we use strollers often, it’s always a good idea to stay up-to-date on the latest safety tips:

Buckle Up

Being on-the-go can be busy, so be sure that you are taking precautions every time. Buckle your baby or toddler, even if you're not walking very far. Also, be sure that you are using the restraints properly. Correctly secure and adjust straps and harnesses on products when available, each and every time.

Unfolding & Folding

Keep baby's hands clear when unfolding & folding your stroller. Be sure to remember practicing pinch prevention!

Tip-Over Prevention

Carefully store your purse and shopping bags underneath your stroller in the storage basket. Do NOT hang bags or heavy items from the handlebars, as this can cause rapid shifts in balance, potentially resulting in a stroller tip-over accident, which can lead to serious injuries to baby, including impact to the head.

Stroller Brakes

In addition to applying stroller brakes whenever you stop, do NOT park the stroller on a slope, incline or decline to prevent your stroller from rolling away, especially with baby inside.

Parent Accessory Trays

Be mindful of what you put in the parent accessory trays. Never place hot beverages in your stroller’s parent accessory tray, so they don’t accidentally spill onto baby and cause burns or bruises.

Did you know that a hot liquid that's 140°F takes only five seconds or less* to inflict a serious burn? Considering the fact that coffee and tea are usually served at 160°F, a spill or a splash of these liquids could result in instantaneous burns that could be very dangerous for your little ones. Young children can be more vulnerable to burns from a scalding substance because they have thinner skin.

Instructions & Labels

Always follow manufacturer instructions, warning labels and recommendations for age, height and weight requirements. Those little manuals that come with your baby gear serve an important purpose! They contain a wealth of safety information, including instructions on how to correctly use the product with your child and when to discontinue use.
